Content Summary
World Book Encyclopedia Online is virtual encyclopedia that students can access from a computer or mobile device. World book was founded in 1915 and has since moved online. World Book is a paid for subscription database that provides students access to over a thousand different articles and other resources. Students can easily search for articles by reading level for their projects. There are five different World Book databases that students can utilize, which include World Book Advanced, World Book Student, World Book Discover, World Book Kids, and World Book Spanish. Students can access encyclopedias, multimedia and eBooks through the online databases.
Critical Evaluation
World Book is not a cheap subscription, but offers students a ton of information. You pay for one year at a time and are given access to a ton of resources. Students can use the online subscription to look for articles and other multimedia content. My favorite part of World Book is how students can search by reading level. I think that makes it easier on the six-grader or twelfth grader who is searching for information. World book is easily accessible from home or school. Students just need to remember their username and password. You can also create a library username and password that students or library patrons can use.
