Magazine Content Summary

PC Gamer is a subscription-based magazine about the newest and most popular PC games on the market. The magazine also includes information and news about popular and upcoming games in the industry. The magazine was first published in 1993 in the UK and was later published in the U.S. in 1994. The magazine gives in-depth reviews from editors and freelance writers. Some of the magazine sections include reviews from readers who have played the games themselves. The magazine is thick and comes with high glossed color images that make for a nice visual read on top of articles.

Critical Evaluation

PC Gamer is a really cool magazine and has a lot of interesting articles that I think are applicable and of interest to teen readers. I think the magazine is great for video gamers and online gamers of all kinds. The magazine doesn’t sensor images and I think that some adults might challenge the magazine for that reason. The magazine isn’t just for teens and includes content that is rated not appropriate for teens. However, they don’t separate or divide content up by rating, so anyone can see them or read reviews. The magazine also included gaming guides that provide readers with strategies and tricks for beating games. I liked how heavy the pages were and that every page was in color. It made me feel like I got a lot for my money. I really liked that they encouraged readers to check out online content for extra information, pod casts, videos, and related interviews. The magazine provided a ton of information from numerous different sources. This made the magazine feel well rounded with information related to the world of PC gaming.

I choose to read this because I was looking for something opposite of the Seventeen magazine that I could include in my collection.
