Welcome

Welcome to the Prospect Ridge Academy (PRA) Graphic Novel Pathfinder. This was created as part of an assignment for Professor Tunon’s INFO210-10 Reference and Information Service class. This pathfinder is for high school students at PRA who are looking for fiction and non-fiction graphic novels in the school’s library. This website is organized by fiction, non-fiction, recommendations, and resources. Each page is organized by genres or subjects in order to make finding your next graphic novel a breeze.

What is a Graphic Novel?

Graphic novels are a format or medium, but they are not a genre.  There are fiction and non-fiction graphic novels that include different genres and subjects just like a standard novel. ).  Graphic Novels incorporate different genres and styles, similar to the ways that written word, music, video, theatre, visual art and film do (McCloud, 1993, p. 6). Graphic novels are a legitimate reading material that can be used for educational purposes or for personal reading. Graphic novels can provide new insights to traditional texts and improve critical thinking skills.
