This summer semester has given me more insight in to the different types of professions out there for students working towards their MLIS degree with SJSU. I realize now that there are many layers involved and hats to be worn as a librarian in our digital age. I am working towards becoming a school librarian and for this professional synthesis assignment I have decided to focus on parts to a successful school library.

 

School librarians today are responsible for the safety of their staff and students. They need to be able to not only manage, but also lead their school library. School libraries need short-term and long-term goals, and budget plans. As well, school librarians need to be able to create and implement smart design plans for the physical space of their school library. Today school libraries are quickly changing and adapting to new technologies. These information spaces need individuals who can manage the space and lead the library in to the 21st century.
